Wineham Loop BMCC 10TT

Another fine evening over at Wineham for another instalment of the BMCC 10TT on Tuesday night.

The wind played a greater role than the week before but the 15 riders that turned out still put in some great times.  In the Open on Road bikes Issac Wright (TMC) rode a 22:25 with over very own Mark Day coming 2nd with 23:14.  Andy Larkin (SRVC) was 3rd with a 24:02.  Female Open was won by Sally Smyes (Brighton Phoenix) with 29:19 and the Female TT was won by Erica Martin (Eastbourne Rovers)  29:38.  Kevin Nwelyn  rode 24:05 on a TT bike with Ben Ib 2nd (24:32) and BMCC’s Stephen Lamprell 3rd (26:06).

Thanks again to Tristan, James, Wendy and Anthony for assisting and making the event possible.

We were luck to have Lee come out and photograph the event as well.  His photos can be found here https://hellovelo.picfair.com/albums/277149-brighton-mitre-wineham-tt

Another great evening even if I say so myself, so thank you everyone for turning out.

Next week our attention turns up hill with the first of two Hill Climbs on Mill Hill.  Tuesday 27th Aug and Tuesday 3rd Sept, first riders off at 7pm.  More info here….https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/club-events/view/12483

BMCC’s Cris Coxon riding his TT rig turned in the fastest time of the evening of 21.22.  The fastest road bike rider was Kevin Newlyn of Sussex Revolution with 24.15.  Kerry McGawley (BMCC) was the fastest female on a TT bike with a time of 26.01.  Amy Davis (BMCC) was the fastest female on a road bike with 27.44

Interclub TT

Brighton Mitre slugged it out against Brighton Excelsior at the interclub TT competition over on the 10 mile course at Steyning on Tuesday night.

An aggregate time of the 3 fastest riders from each team was used to decide the winners and we are delighted to report that thanks to very strong rides from Mark, Marek and Jack Brighton Mitre were triumphant.  The Mitre recorded an aggregate of 67min 51sec vs Excelsior’s 72min 22sec.  Chapeau to the Mitre….  Apologies to Jack for not capturing a picture of him whistling over the finish line…..

Gravel Rides 2024

The warm and dry weather is upon us, opening up the off-road/gravel riding season.

We are restarting the off-road/gravel rides every SECOND and FOURTH Sunday of the month. Rides start at the Hilltop Cafe (on Dyke Rd before the roundabout) at 09.30

You will be riding on tracks, bridleways and other unpaved roads. You will need a bike that can handle this type of road terrain such as a gravel bike or mountain bike wide tyres (more than 38 mm). The rides are a great fun and it is a nice way of seeing different parts of the countryside that, normally, are not visible from the road.

One important point, the Club organises the rides by setting a time, place and suggesting a route, but the rides are SELF-GUIDED. This means that there will not be a leader of the ride.

We are starting this Sunday 12th May and information about the route will be posted in the Facebook page.
